Fiction vs Non-Fiction
Sophie focuses on illustration for young audiences, and over her final year has explored the contrast and balance between fiction and non-fiction picture books.
Her first book, Zebracadabra, is an imaginative story written by author Kes Grey about a zebra who turns various different animals black and white stripy, only to discover he can’t turn them back to normal again. Her second book, Urban Opposites, is a self-written educational interactive lift the flap book, which teaches children about vastly different cities around the world. She uses a mixture of paper cut and digital media to produce her artwork and focuses on vibrant colours as well as bold shapes and forms to engage the young audience.
