Technology at it’s finest.

Introducing Alexa.

She cooks for you, she cleans for you and even waits patiently for you to return home each day.

She has it all.

The perfect wife.

Phoenix’s work is made with individually painted objects and characters using acrylic paints and is then digitally collaged. She uses limited colour palettes with varying tones to convey surreal atmospheres that question social normality with her own point of view.

The work shown here is a project that started with an article from The Guardian called ‘Adios Alexa’ that examines the implications that could arise from using artificial intelligence, especially in the home, that use the female voice as a way of communicating. The work questions gender roles in the home, and our growing relationship and reliance on technology.
