Emma Liu is an illustrator and designer with a particular interest in how the internet has integrated into and sculpted modern culture. We live in a world where the distinction between virtual reality and physical reality is becoming increasingly blurred, which raises the question: are we ever offline? Emma explores this digitally saturated society experimentally across a variety of mediums; often adapting her methods to fit different applications of work.
Her project, Portrayal, manifests how social media has provided its users with the necessary tools to readily manipulate reality. Themes of warped perception, identity, and inauthenticity explored in this project have been conveyed through a series of provoking images designed for the purposes of digital identity and campaign.
